September 3rd 2025 Comic Pulls
Sep. 6th, 2025 08:42 pmThree pulls this week; I keep track of all my pulls on League of Comic Geeks, but there must have been an error on there with the release date for Birds of Prey, because when I made my September Pulls list, Birds of Prey #25 was scheduled for the next week (which I thought was odd because it's usually with Batgirl, but I just assumed there was some kind of delay). However, it seems like the issue has been released, given that other people have picked up their physical issues and it's out digitally. (Though I don't actually have any phsical copies yet; I read the issues online because I didn't have a chance to stop at my LCS this week). Not sure what happened there, I'm guessing there was a mistake with the release date on LoCG.
Spoilers ahead!
Batgirl #11
Cass gets a sword and Tenji gets claws; then they both get on ponies and ride into the sunset. Also there was some stuff with blood demons! I'm sure that's not important, though. This was the wrap-up to the whole emotional arc with Lady Shiva's death and Cass discovering she has a brother. It was pretty solid, though I'm disappointed that the location was so limited; Cass traveled all the way to Montana ranch and it felt like that setting wasn't utilized as much as it could have been. (Did I just want more cowgirl Cass? Maybe. Who can say?)
Birds of Prey #25
Character creation is the best part of any video game and you can't change my mind. Yes I will spend 2 hours making the perfect avatar. Inque is apparently part of the team now, which you would think would be a bigger deal given that she possessed Big Barda a few issues ago and the whole team was freaked out about it. Obviously Barda wasn't happy about it, but I don't know, I guess I wanted more tension, because the payoff when Inque jumped in front of a blast meant for Barda would have been better.
Cheetah and Cheshire Rob the Justice League #2:
The roster is filled out! My only experience with Klarion the Witch Boy is from what I watched of the Young Justice show, which was a while ago, but I remember liking him. Becky Sharpe, aka Hazard, is an unknown to me, and the unnamed muscle for the crew, a girl with pink hair and a powerful punch. If the first issue was the "what", as in, "what are they stealing", then this issue was the "who", as in "who is doing the stealing". This girl is a Greg Rucka original, newly created specifically for this series, which is fun! According to his newsletter, next issue will be the plan, which is always a fun part of any heist story.
Notes:
I also read the first issue of Matt Fraction's Batman run and I gotta say, it was pretty okay! Very solid! Not objectionable! Etc!
Notably, Tim shows up in the last page and is looking like a petite teen who easily fits inside a locker when his bully shoves him in, whose voice has not yet dropped and is surely failing PE class due to his inability to complete a single push-up before his frail arms, used only to move a computer mouse while playing video games, give out and send him careening to the mat.
Has Jimenez ever seen a 17-year-old in his life? Asking for a friend XD
